Christmas 2006 was a very relaxed affair. We spent a few days with the family stuffing our faces with vegetarian delights and I regressed to my childhood with cravings for chocolate balls and a fine selection of ‘pick n mix’ being the order of the day. We took a fantastic walk along a small section of the Pembrokeshire coast path ending up on Freshwater West, one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. There were families walking their dogs and a large gathering of people burning up quantities of driftwood while keeping an eye on the ever lowering grey clouds hoping that the rain held off.

Boxing day was, as is often the case, a more enjoyable day. After a late night of Christmas merriment we awoke to another grey and damp day. Mum busied herself preparing more food for our guests who arrived early while the rest of the family went off walking. I took a stroll along East Angle Bay in the shadow of the Texaco oil refinery which we have learned to ignore. I met up with my Dad and we went off investigating some man made earthworks which we decided were probably some kind of disused oil settling tanks. Very eerie indeed.

Much fun was had later on where we gorged ourselves once more and drunk copious amounts of Dads brown ale. A very silly party game kept us entertained for most of the evening played out in Mum and Dads newly weatherproofed conservatory which was, up until 3 days previously, a building site!

All in all Christmas 06 was a memorable one and we’re looking forward to New Years Eve at the Old Point House in Angle where my Brother is providing the entertainment in the form an acoustic guitar set to see in 2007. Should be a good one!
